An extraordinary event took place at Wat Rat Prakhong Tham, a Buddhist Temple in Nonthaburi, Thailand. The 65-year-old woman was discovered to still be alive in the coffin just seconds before her cremation was scheduled to start. Temple staff posted the viral video that may have shocked you, which depicted the woman’s revival and movement inside the coffin. This incredible footage was the stuff that made everyone drool.
The white coffin of the young woman was carried on the back of a pick-up truck just behind me. Her brother had taken her there, hoping to take advantage of the temple’s free cremation service. Yet, without an official death certificate, the cremation was turned down. Two days before her visit to the jail, the woman’s health had taken a dramatic turn. She lost consciousness and was subsequently found not to be breathing.
Her brother, who had just driven the 800 kilometers (500 miles) from Phitsanulok to Bangkok, thought she was dead already. Once he arrived at the temple, he encountered an unforeseen twist.
Temple staff were stunned when they began to see the woman start to make small movements with her arms and head. That started the wheels turning for Pairat Soodthoop, the temple’s general and financial affairs manager, to dig deeper.
“I was a bit surprised, so I asked them to open the coffin, and everyone was startled,” – Pairat Soodthoop
According to witnesses, it was a horrific sight. The woman had apparently been awake for long enough to tap on the inside of her coffin, presumably trying to get someone’s attention.
“I saw her opening her eyes slightly and knocking on the side of the coffin. She must have been knocking for quite some time,” – Pairat Soodthoop
Following this miraculous revelation, the temple’s abbot announced that they would cover the woman’s medical expenses. Her brother attempted to donate her organs to a local hospital. The hospital rejected the offer due to lack of having a death certificate.
The woman had experienced nearly two years of demoralizing bed rest before this episode. She had communicated her desire to be an organ donor. The last minute twist of fate brought great joy to her loved ones. Most importantly, it explained just how vital official documentation can be in life-or-death circumstances.
