Paris Jackson, daughter of the late pop icon and environmentalist Michael Jackson, is not shy about voicing her displeasure. She’s not happy with an unauthorized biopic about her father, that will be released April 24, 2026. She used Instagram to vent her frustrations and tell it like it is. She expressed her displeasure with the movie’s lack of authenticity and revealed that she had no involvement in its creation.
Paris Jackson is adamant that she had “zero percent creative control” over the project. The entire project was created in partnership with the Jackson estate. She referred to the resulting film as “sugar-coated,” implying that it does not faithfully capture the full range of her father’s life. “The narrative is being controlled and there’s a lot of inaccuracy and there’s a lot of just full-blown lies,” she asserted, emphasizing her dissatisfaction with how the story has been framed.
She mentioned that the first time she shared her work was when she read one of the early drafts of the script. Her comments helped address parts that seemed misleading or awkward. Read on to find out her thought process, and what led her to withdraw from the project after repeatedly outlining her concerns. “I read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my notes about what was dishonest / didn’t sit right with me, and when they didn’t address it, I moved on with my life,” Paris said.
Paris went on to criticize Hollywood’s obsession with “safe” biopics made for identifiable fan bases, and introverted franchises. She proposed that this tactic doesn’t give an accurate representation of the people’s lives. “A big section of the film panders to a very specific section of my dad’s fandom that still lives in the fantasy,” she remarked, indicating that while some viewers may enjoy the dramatized version, it does not resonate with her perception of reality.
Colman Domingo as family patriarch Joe Jackson in “One Night in Miami”—Andrew C. Hida/Amazon Studios. He disputed Paris’s allegations, asserting that she and her brother Prince unequivocally back their feature-length film. He characterized his dealings with Paris as “charming and cordial,” making clear his appreciation for their relationship, even in the face of her criticisms.
Paris’s comments followed a day where she had to defend her stance on the film. “Don’t be telling people I was ‘helpful’ on the set of a movie I had zero per cent involvement in lol that is so weird,” she stated, highlighting her frustration with any misrepresentation of her role in the project.
