All of that comes against the backdrop of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 kicking off on September 30. India and Sri Lanka will wear the honor of jointly hosting this much awaited tournament with swagger. This event will feature eight teams competing in a round-robin cum knockout format, promising thrilling matches across five vibrant cities: Bengaluru, Vizag, Indore, Guwahati, and Colombo.
India will begin their campaign in the opening match against Sri Lanka on September 30. The tournament will be a great opportunity to experience some of the best level women’s cricket. Fans are excitedly looking forward to the big rivalries, particularly the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan match on October 5 in Colombo.
The unique tournament structure ensures that all eight teams have a fair and competitive opportunity. They will meet all the other teams at least once within the first round-robin phase. Following these matches, the top four teams will be awarded a seat at the semi-finals. Their ability to climb the points table will decide who makes it through. The semi-finals are scheduled for October 29 and 30. The two winners of these semifinal matches will face each other in the final. Warm-up matches begin September 24th. These games provide an important chance for teams to solidify their gameplans and prepare for the intense competition of the tournament floor. Six teams secured their spots in ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 by finishing on top of the ICC Women’s Championship. Meanwhile, Pakistan and Bangladesh had to earn their places through dazzling displays in a qualifier that took place earlier this year.
