Filmmaker, actor, activist & humanitarian Rob Reiner passed away at his home in Los Angeles on Saturday. Sadly, his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, was subsequently discovered dead at the same hotel. That troubling finding has left the entertainment community and Jones’s family reeling over his shocking death. Nick Reiner, 32, son of actor Rob Reiner, now charged with two counts of first-degree murder in both deaths.
Rob Reiner, celebrated for directing iconic films such as “When Harry Met Sally,” “Misery,” “Stand by Me,” and “The Princess Bride,” gained widespread acclaim for his work. When Harry Met Sally, released in 1989, was a critical and commercial success, grossing more than $93 million at the box office and earning Nora Ephron an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
The Rob Reiner legacy isn’t only in his impressive filmography. He met Michele Singer Reiner during a film project, and the couple celebrated 36 years of marriage. Together, the couple raised three children, Jake, Romy and Nick Reiner. Tragically, it was Romy who found their bodies.
In the wake of their parents’ death, Jake and Romy expressed their profound sorrow in a statement: “The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”
Hollywood stars and celebrities have been quick to remember and celebrate the legacy of the hilarious and sharp Rob Reiner. Co-star Billy Crystal praised him, stating, “His comedic touch was beyond compare, his love of getting the music of the dialogue just right, and his sharpening of the edge of a drama was simply elegant.” Crystal went on to explain that Reiner’s greatest gift was fostering a collaborative space for actors and writers to thrive.
