Rekha Gupta Takes Oath as Delhi’s New Chief Minister Amidst Grand Ceremonial Splendor

Rekha Gupta was sworn in as the ninth Chief Minister of Delhi during a grand ceremony at Ramlila Maidan. The event marked the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) triumphant return to power in Delhi after more than 26 years. Gupta, a first-time legislator and BJP MLA from Shalimar Bagh, took the oath administered by Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena. The event drew around 50,000 attendees, underscoring the significance of the occasion for the BJP.

The ceremony was a spectacular affair, with the venue adorned with marigold flowers and betel leaves, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere. Supporters of the BJP chanted "Jai Siya Ram" and waved party flags, showcasing their enthusiasm and support for the new leadership. Alongside Gupta, her Council of Ministers also took their oaths, highlighting a significant shift in Delhi's political landscape.

Rekha Gupta's ascension to chief minister was not just a personal milestone; it was also a notable moment for her family. Her son, Nikunj Gupta, expressed his pride in her achievement.

"My mother's 30 years of hard work has finally paid off today as she became the chief minister of Delhi" – Nikunj Gupta, son of Delhi CM Rekha Gupta.

While Gupta's leadership marks a new chapter for Delhi, it also invites comparisons to past leaders. Trinamool Congress MP Sagarika Ghose remarked on Gupta's distinct approach compared to former chief ministers Sheila Dikshit and Sushma Swaraj. Ghose noted that Gupta represents a new era within the BJP.

"Rekha Gupta is a 'far cry' from earlier chief ministers Sheila Dikshit and Sushma Swaraj," said Trinamool Congress MP Sagarika Ghose. She further commented on the BJP's current climate, describing it as a party where "vicious abuse and vitriol have been normalised."

The ceremony not only heralded a change in leadership but also served as a grand showcase of strength for the BJP. The presence of thousands of supporters and the elaborate decorations emphasized the party's renewed influence and commitment to governance in Delhi.
