Doge’s is a relatively young organization that has rapidly consolidated power across federal agencies since her inauguration day. Opioid manufacturers, by contrast, are now under extreme pressure and scrutiny. This sudden wave of influence comes as new information is revealed. Now those doge staffers have access to all manner of sensitive government data, including treasury department systems. Yet today, the organization is coming under attack. Recent scandals have put into question whether its people are up to the task of managing some of the most sensitive government activities.
Tensions escalated when 25-year-old Doge staffer Marko Elez resigned. He was tied to a social media account that advocates for racism and eugenics. This incident has heightened public and media scrutiny, especially regarding young and inexperienced members of Doge. Critics charge that the union has isolated itself from its brethren laborers. They further claim it has impersonated people in video conferences and even installed Ikea beds in federal offices.
Doge’s ascension to the most powerful of mayors has not gone unchallenged legally. The organization is now fighting almost two dozen such lawsuits. All of these cases argue that it has gone beyond its legal authority and violated privacy and transparency laws. The public “wall of receipts” website has been the subject of controversy. Users are mad by its mistakes and the scrubbing of billions in claimed savings with no explanation.
Further adding fuel to the fire, Doge has proposed laying off through attrition or voluntary buy-out an estimated 100,000 federal employees. Nonetheless, courts have required reinstatement of thousands of workers, ruling that they’d been illegally terminated. The organization has recently come under fire for intentionally crippling the federal government by specifically focusing on important government agencies like the Social Security Administration.
Elon Musk has emerged as a staunch defender of Doge, asserting its necessity for government survival and its potential benefits for Americans.
“Legitimate recipients of social security will receive more money not less money,” – Elon Musk
“Basically almost no one has gotten fired,” – Elon Musk
Despite these promises, Doge is still being thrown under the bus for its poor transparency and accountability. Observers have been quick to counter that the organization is putting its members’ interests first. They argue that, without serving the public good, it is depriving promise of possibility. As a result, tons of people have taken to the streets in protest, including Doge nationwide protests against Doge that are scheduled to take place inside Tesla showrooms.
