Tension Mounts at Augusta as Masters 2025 Final Round Unfolds

The thrilling conclusion to the 2025 Masters at Augusta National Golf Club. Unsurprisingly, it produced some of the greatest shot-making and crafty strategy from some of the game’s best players in the world. With the tournament now at its finale, the stakes could not be higher as competitors faced off on the most revered track in the game. Rory McIlroy faced challenges early in his round, while Scottie Scheffler achieved an extraordinary double eagle on the 10th hole. Harris English finished off his week in style, sending fans home with much to be excited about.

When McIlroy was on the 7th tee box, he hit his third shot. It floated onto the green, but came to rest 25 feet short of the flag. That was a costly miscalculation. He then missed his par saver, taking a sad bogey and finishing the tournament at -10. It was a lot of pressure to put on McIlroy as he tried to find his stride with the rest of a rabidly-competitive field.

Harris English ended a big week for him in dramatic fashion. He ended up at -4, making the leap into the top-20 with a closing 68. With a tough lie in a buried-greenside bunker on the 18th hole, he expertly splashed out to ten feet. Calmly, he knocked in the putt to complete his stellar round. English’s steady play over the course of the tournament kept him in striking distance of the leaders.

At the same time, Scottie Scheffler was showing all kinds of power and precision when he first stepped to the 10th tee. He opened the day with a huge 338-yard blast down the left side of the fairway. This incredible tee ball positioned him beautifully for an absolutely phenomenal second shot. Scheffler landed his approach on the front of the green, watching as the ball rolled to the far-right corner and into the cup for a sensational double eagle. Reliving a life changing moment, this incredible accomplishment brought his hopes back to life during the tournament.

Heritage resonated on the par-five 15th as we imagined Gene Sarazen’s iconic albatross. Viktor Hovland came oh so close to duplicating Sarazen’s legendary “Shot Heard Round The World,” but for his own talent and destiny to take center stage. Hovland’s efforts underscored the significance of Augusta’s history while reminding fans of past glories.

His challenge started on the par-four 12th, where Ludvig Åberg pulled his tee shot long and left. He certainly dodged a bullet by not going into the azaleas. In spite of his good luck, Åberg fell back to -8 after missing a par save from the swale. It was the pressure of Augusta’s unforgiving layout that loomed largest over his performance.

Bryson DeChambeau made waves with his incredible save on the 11th hole. Capping off a day’s worth of move-in ready, jaw-yanking up-and-downs, he posted -9 for the event. His poise and problem-solving in tough circumstances showed DeChambeau’s mental toughness and genius in the clutch.

As that last round unfolded, so did McIlroy’s turmoil. After his bogey on the 7th hole, he knew he had to save things. He concentrated on not dropping any more shots from the drop zone and avoiding further carnage. The stakes were high and each stroke made a difference as players vied for position in this major championship.
