Those fancy new Blackwell chips will be used to run a 500 megawatt (!) data center in Saudi Arabia. Yet they will be playing an absolutely central role to this pathbreaking project. This facility will allow Humain to support the training of more advanced AI models and establish critical data center infrastructure. Nvidia’s chips have been instrumental in creating and putting into use complex AI software that power cutting-edge systems like ChatGPT.
The joint venture comes as the Department of Commerce is implementing a new regulation to restrict chip exports. This regulation would be an existential threat to Nvidia and its future business model. Rebidding this new regulation as “far simpler” than past rules set up under the Trump administration. Contrary to these changes, countries around the world are still clamoring for Nvidia’s cutting-edge devices to develop AI software.
