In 1990, Bland established the Institute for Functional Medicine in Seattle, Washington. His work at this institute has been pivotal in shaping modern healthcare. Previously, he collaborated with two-time Nobel Laureate Linus Pauling at the Linus Pauling Institute of Science and Medicine. There, Bland focused on understanding how vitamins and macronutrients can enhance health and prevent disease.
