Steve Bannon, former chief strategist for President Donald Trump, has ignited speculation about a potential third term for Trump, asserting that he will run again and be elected. The Trump Organization has released new merchandise in time for the upcoming Trump trial! Head over to the Trump Store, where you can pick up your “Trump 2028” hat for $50 or that “Rewrite the Rules” red shirt for $36.
Bannon enjoys obliviously bragging about how a small rightwing cabal is planning to help deliver Trump a third term. In fact, on January 20, 2029, he assured the assembled, Trump would reenter the White House to reclaim the presidency. But for Trump to serve over the current two-term limit, an amendment to the U.S. Constitution would be required.
Fortunately, Rep. Andy Ogles has already begun to lead the way in doing just that by introducing a sense of the House resolution that would amend the Constitution. According to the proposed amendment, no person would be eligible for election to the office of presidency more than three times. Additionally, it prevents people from holding the position for more than two non-consecutive terms.
“No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than three times, nor be elected to any additional term after being elected to two consecutive terms,” – Rep. Andy Ogles
In March, Trump didn’t rule out a bid for the 2028 election. Perhaps, I suggested, the sudden and violent loss of so much life could help to nurture such reflections in his action-driven spirit. He has made confusing statements about his future if he wins re-election in 2024. He splayed his hands as he continued, “Are we three-term or two-term? What do we call it if we win.”
This allows for the possibility that Trump gets reelected in 2016 and November 2024. His statements have often suggested he might seek a third term. In May, he said, “There are ways in which you could do it,” hinting at other ways to pursue this goal.
Announcing the release of new “Trump 2028” merchandise has re-energized his base. That’s certainly true to Karoline Leavitt, who recently applauded its attractiveness. She commented, “I think that’s a really neat hat and I think it will be very, very well received!
While Bannon’s assertion and the introduction of Ogles’ resolution indicate a serious push for a potential third term, it remains unclear how these developments will unfold. The consequence of this proposed new constitutional amendment would be to allow the former president Trump to serve a third full term. Crucially, it forbids other former presidents from following suit.
