Resolution Achieved for Long-Standing Gas Meter Dispute

An ongoing controversy over a new gas meter installation has come to an end after six months of uncertainty. Someone who has lived in the same place for 15 years. All during that time, they’ve never defaulted on one gas payment. Ignoring this specific history, problems still developed when we realized the gas meter hadn’t been registered, causing frustrations to continue.

For the last six months, the person had only been getting electricity bills. In the meantime, a gas debt was starting to rack up silently as the gas account was never closed. The person worried about having to pay unforeseen bills in the thousands of pounds if nothing changed. Not long after this first successful resolution of the problem, it came back, making things even more difficult.

The gas company made an unusual round-up to defend the person who brought it all under fire. They agreed not to charge the company for the six months in which no gas supplier existed. This ruling further relieved some of the financial pressure that came along with the unresolved gas meter status.

And it was that individual’s stubbornness in refusing to accept no for an answer that led to this happy outcome. After much back and forth, that gas meter was finally registered, and they are officially in the utility’s eyes a gas customer. On top of that they received £100 in compensation for the distress caused during this lengthy ordeal.

With their account reinstated to a clean slate, the individual can now pay for their gas consumption without fear of unexpected charges. Clarifying this issue rights a long-term wish of theirs to have their account set up as it should have been. Not to mention, it locks in their future peace of mind, too.
