EasyJet Pilot Suspended Following Naked Incident at Cape Verde Resort

An EasyJet pilot has been suspended after a wild night at a five-star hotel in Cape Verde went viral. He often left his suite to wander through public spaces in the building while in the buff, according to reports. The pilot made it to the Melia Dunas Beach Resort and Spa on August 4. On August 5, early in the morning, the collapse happened.

Witnesses reported that at approximately 02:30 local time (04:30 BST), the pilot was seen entering the hotel reception stark naked and reeking of alcohol. In addition to this disgraceful episode, before he even landed at the resort, he was spending four hours at a bar drinking. He had done a number that evening. After a short introduction in the reception area, the pilot continued to experience the gym and spa amenities.

The pilot was scheduled to fly the same plane back to Gatwick in the afternoon of August 6. More than 36 hours after it happened. Just to put in perspective how optimistic this would be, this flight would’ve carried a distance of 2,332 nautical miles (4,318 kilometers). Following the event and facing hundreds of complaints from hotel customers, EasyJet responded quickly. They softened the blow by grounding the pilot and promptly finding an alternative individual to manage flight operations.

“The pilot did not have a stitch on and reeked of alcohol,” – an anonymous source inside the airline.

The airline responded swiftly to the incident. An EasyJet spokesman stated, “As soon as we were made aware, the pilot was immediately stood down from duty, in line with our procedures, pending an investigation. The safety of our passengers and crew is EasyJet’s highest priority.”

Another source from within the airline expressed concerns about the implications of such behavior on passenger safety. “Anyone who saw the pilot cavorting naked in the early hours on the day before a flight would not dream of getting on a plane with him at the controls.”

It should be noted easyJet has a zero-tolerance policy for employee behavior, and especially those who work in operational roles. The airline’s dedication to safety, as always, is priority number one according to XYZ Airlines, who are in the midst of an internal investigation into the incident.
