Hazardous Material Train Derails in Palo Pinto County Texas

A train with almost three dozen cars of hazardous materials derailed Tuesday afternoon in Palo Pinto County, Texas. The incident occurred at approximately 1:45 PM local time over the Coalville Road Bridge, located north of State Highway 183 and about two miles east of Gordon.

Emergency services rushed to the scene in the aftermath of Friday’s derailment. The Palo Pinto County Emergency Services District 1 shared the crash on Facebook. The Facebook post claimed that several train cars had derailed. They now have locations, but instead of installing them vertically, they lie on their sides. Fortunately, there were no injuries to crew members or residents in the area of the incident.

Officials have since confirmed to CBS that the train encompasses 35 train cars carrying hazardous materials. Luckily, all of them are not leaking at the scene. This reassured residents that there were no new environmental dangers which may have emerged in the wake of the derailment.
