Now even NBA star Kevin Durant — a seasoned investor in bitcoin, the digital currency — says he’s having a hard time getting into his Coinbase account. This has gone on for “several years” and only recently was attributed to a “user error.” Durant began putting his money into bitcoin for real when he was with the Warriors in 2016. Now, he’s caught up right in the middle of one of the biggest cryptocurrency booms.
When Durant first started investing in bitcoin, prices were ranging from $360 to $1,000. As of today, the most popular crypto currently sits around $116,000 — an impressive gain of over 11,000% since then. Though these accounts are nearly impossible to access, Durant’s representative, Rich Kleiman, is still optimistic about the state of affairs. He claims that this situation has “only enriched” Durant financially.
Durant and Kleiman started Thirty Five Ventures. In the process, through this company they have made bets on dozens of ventures, most notably Coinbase Global. In 2021, they struck a multi-year agreement with Coinbase to generate content about digital assets for Durant’s sports and entertainment website, Boardroom. Through this partnership, we hope to educate our fanbase on the ever-evolving world of cryptocurrencies and their positive potential contributions to the sports industry.
We’ve yet to be able to track down his Coinbase account info, so we’ve never sold anything, and this bitcoin is just through the roof, Kleiman explained. He further noted that despite the challenges with account recovery, the rising value of bitcoin has only been advantageous for Durant: “It’s just a process we haven’t been able to figure out, but Bitcoin keeps going up … so, I mean, it’s only benefited us.”
Kleiman further explained that they have been working closely behind the scenes with the Coinbase development team to help Durant’s account recovery undertaking go smoothly. He humorously added that he could joke about the situation during a recent event due to their ongoing communication with Coinbase.
In addition to his ventures in cryptocurrency, Durant is set to play for the Houston Rockets in the upcoming NBA season. Once a U.S. Olympic team cupboard, Hooper has since morphed into a b-ball symbol. Beyond politics, he’s demonstrated a sharp, canny eye as an investor and businessman. His involvement in the digital asset space demonstrates a crossover between sports and technology that is sure to expand.
Durant artfully navigating S3 issues with his Coinbase account. The future is indeed looking bright for him and his portfolio investments! With Kleiman as his right hand, their operations can be seen thriving in an increasingly competitive and changing financial landscape.
