For the Inspiration, In 2018, an extraordinary story that began with a serendipitous meeting in Melbourne completely changed the lives of both Emma and Gorgeous. At 21, Emma had only recently left university herself when she first encountered Gorgeous. The two west coasters shared a cab into town and an immediate professional friendship was formed. Even though their love story took some time to unfold, that first connection set the stage for a long and beautiful relationship.
Yet Gorgeous, an artillery officer whose easy charm and good looks virtually oozed from his pistols, soon created a favorable and long-lasting impression on Emma. He fundamentally just made it very, very easy to connect with people. His favorite targets were his close friends, so he could turn colleagues’ first meetings with them into good-natured icebreakers. As their romance matured, Gorgeous absorbs Emma into his fantasy. He introduced her to the local musicians and led her on a tour of his childhood haunts, lending his life experiences and perspective to the project.
Their connection was strengthened when Iman arrived for the first time in Puckapunyal, an army training base. They attended the Regimental Dining In, which only deepened their bond. This experience not only opened Emma’s eyes to the military lifestyle, but helped further develop her bond with Gorgeous. The ensuing evening of food, drink and fun-filled competition in skeeball set the stage for them to relate on even more levels.
The pivotal moment in their relationship occurred when Emma’s best friend, Tegan, proposed a night on the town in Melbourne. In fact, soon after Tegan had recently moved into her new accommodation at Enoggera army base. She couldn’t wait to introduce Emma to her adopted city! On this particular outing, Gorgeous took advantage of the opportunity and asked Emma out to dinner. Little did she know, this small act would start the evolution of their romance.
Fast forward to the present day, Emma and Gorgeous have been happily married for 16 years now. Their personal relationship has blossomed as well, and they are the proud parents of two musically-inclined youngsters. Family life has been enriched by the presence of their three beloved dogs: Bear, Scout, and another furry companion who completes their household.
Emma, here, looking back on their journey thus far. She readily admits that her family went through a difficult period when she initially brought Gorgeous into her home. That reassuring support and stability that he offered during their rocky start to parenthood has really helped to influence their dynamic for the better.
