Asahi Brewing Faces Major Disruption Following Cyber-Attack

Asahi, the fifth largest of Japan’s 3,000 strong brewing family, has become the latest cyber-attack victim to cause major operational turmoil. The cumulative impact of the attack has led to a systems failure. It’s thrown shipping, customer service and order processing into chaos company-wide in Japan.

It has caused Asahi’s order-taking operations mall over the country to be suspended due to the cyber-attack. As a result, consumers in Japan were unable to order their favorites. Equally important, the company’s shipping operations have ground to a halt, making it impossible to deliver products to retailers and consumers. Customer service operations have been significantly affected, all but shutting down the ability to answer many questions.

Asahi assured the public that the systems failure is limited to its operations inside Japan. The company is working diligently to investigate the cause of the cyber-attack and restore normal function as soon as possible.

“We are actively investigating the cause and working to restore operations; however, there is currently no estimated timeline for recovery.” – Asahi
