Cefinn, Samantha Cameron’s Fashion Label, to Close After Eight Years

Cefinn, the women’s workwear label founded by former UK Chancellor’s wife Samantha Cameron, is shuttering. Having spent eight years in the fashion space, the brand is looking to close up shop. The company focuses on making all of your office, as well as casual wear in every style. This line draws the attention of elite clientele that values luxury couture. Lady Cameron assured observers that the decision had not been made lightly, even in the face of recently stellar trading statistics.

Originally launched with the intent of offering fashionable, practical clothing Cefinn quickly became recognized for its more expensive priced pieces. The brand’s trousers usually cost from £150 to £250, and its floral dresses are around the £300 mark. These price points are a calculated move in the market, securing Cefinn’s reputation as a high-quality label that speaks to the newest wave of discerning customers.

No matter how appealing the brand was on its own, external factors had an outsized effect on its operations. Changing international trading restrictions have compounded their challenges for the company. Further complicating the situation are tariffs that former President Donald Trump slapped on Asian suppliers, which have increased costs. A representative from the fashion firm described Cefinn as “a small company navigating the turbulence in the fashion wholesale sector, ongoing cost pressures and international trading restrictions.”

Cefinn’s online store will continue to run for the next few months as the brand makes plans to clear out remaining stock. Additionally, physical stores located on Elizabeth Street and the King’s Road in London will continue to operate during this transitional period.

The company is thrilled to be releasing its last winter collection at the end of this month. This will be the final offering from Cefinn. For founder Julia King, the name “Cefinn” has powerful personal significance. It probably derives from the first and last letters of the Cameron name, with the initials of Lady Cameron and David Cameron’s four children tucked in the middle.
