Colorado Woman Arrested After Mother Mauled to Death by Dogs

Jessica Hoff, a white woman from Colorado, was arrested after the tragic death of a young pedestrian. Her mother LaVonne Hoff succumbed to the injuries inflicted by a dog mauling attack on their property in Colorado City. What happened on Friday has led local law enforcement, including the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office, to arrest Jessica Hoff after her mother’s heartbreaking death. The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office has charged her with multiple felony counts of neglecting both seniors and animals. She remains in custody at the Pueblo County jail, with a $50,000 bail.

She had been attacked by dogs while left home alone, with her daughter out on errands. First responders had to pronounce her dead at the scene. The home, shared by both women, was described by authorities as having "living in unsanitary conditions, and several of the dogs were in poor health."

Investigators executed a search warrant for a second residence owned by Jessica Hoff in Colorado City. They found a large number of animals on the grounds, including approximately 24 dogs and seven caged birds. A number of other dogs were seen running at large around the Hoffs’ home.

Her companion Jessica Hoff is facing severe legal repercussions, having been booked on 54 counts of aggravated cruelty to animals. She said the authorities “crafted a very strong case” against her. They pointed to allegations of abuse for her aged mother and the hundreds of animals found on her premises.
