Convicted Rapist Faces Potentially Larger Scale of Crimes, Police Investigate

Zhenhao Zou, a student from London, has been convicted of a series of heinous crimes, including the rape of ten women across London and China. A jury found Zou guilty of 28 counts, encompassing 11 rapes, one count of false imprisonment, and 16 other charges. The crimes, which took place between 2019 and 2024, have sent shockwaves through communities in both countries.

Police fear that the extent of Zou's crimes might be far greater than currently known. Detectives suspect that he may have as many as 50 more victims, as they continue to examine a substantial amount of evidence. Zou's arrest came upon his return to the UK in January 2024, after which he was immediately detained.

The court heard that Zou filmed most of his assaults, providing crucial evidence that led to his conviction. These videos lay bare the horrifying nature of his crimes and were instrumental in delivering justice for the victims.

During searches of Zou's London residence, authorities discovered an array of drugs, including MDMA, butanediol, ketamine, and alprazolam. Initially, Zou claimed a date rape drug was used as a skin moisturizer; however, he later altered his testimony, admitting to using these substances recreationally during clubbing outings.

In a chilling admission during the trial, Zou confessed to deriving arousal from extreme pornography, specifically videos involving unconscious women and rape role play. Despite these admissions, the jury acquitted him of seven counts related to possessing drugs with intent to commit rape and two counts of possessing extreme pornographic images.

The investigation uncovered further evidence suggesting that Zou engaged in additional attacks. Authorities recovered more videos that imply he may have committed up to 50 more sexual assaults. The police continue to sift through extensive evidence, seeking to corroborate these suspicions.

Among the charges for which Zou was found guilty are ten counts of possessing extreme pornography, three counts of voyeurism, and three counts associated with using butanediol to facilitate rape. However, he was acquitted on some charges regarding the possession of MDMA, ketamine, and alprazolam with the intent to commit rape.

Zou's sentencing is scheduled for June 19. The gravity of his offenses has brought significant attention from law enforcement agencies and the public alike. The ongoing investigation seeks to bring closure to any additional victims who have yet to come forward.

"Don’t push me, it’s pointless … The sound insulation here is very good." – Zou
