Crown Princess’s Son Charged with Multiple Offences Including Rape

Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Crown Prince Haakon, is in major legal hot water. He’s been charged with 32 different offences, four of which are rape. The charges stem from alleged crimes against four women from 2018 to Nov. 29, 2024. First, they contend that Høiby raped them after consensual sexual intercourse while they were asleep.

Regardless, the allegations suggest that Høiby sexually assaulted and raped the women. In addition, he recorded the attacks without their knowledge or consent. Finally, he is charged with domestic violence against a former partner. On top of that, he’s charged with illegally filming women other than Taylor, including taking videos of their genitals without their consent.

Høiby is scheduled for trial early next year. The hearing is set to begin in January and run approximately six weeks. If convicted, he would potentially face a maximum ten-year prison sentence.

He was originally charged with 23 total charges, including three counts of rape. His public defense attorney, Petar Sekulic, claimed on behalf of Høiby that “Høiby does not admit guilt to the essentials.”

Marius Borg Høiby “strongly denies” the allegations against him, according to his lawyer. The seriousness of the situation was underscored by Sturla Henriksbø, who stated, “This case is extremely severe. Rape and violent battering by intimate partners are heinous crimes that permanently scar victims and evidence lives. Henriksbø stressed that Høiby’s royal status has no impact on the application of the law. It’s not at all an indication that he’s treated more leniently or more strictly than if other people did similar acts,” he said.

Høiby’s lawyer Ellen Holager Andenæs has not yet returned our request for further comment regarding the case. The continuing legal proceedings promise to be among the most closely watched in the country. This is partly because of Høiby’s star-studded pedigree as the son of Norway’s future king and queen.
