Dua Lipa Refutes False Claims About Agent Dismissal Amid Political Controversy

Dua Lipa has appropriately and vehemently rebutted a “deliberately inflammatory” story from MailOnline. The report accused her of terminating her engagement with live agent David Levy over his purported opinions on Irish rap group Kneecap. The report surfaced amidst ongoing discussions around the conflict in Gaza and the role of music artists in political matters.

William Morris Endeavour, the agency that represents Dua Lipa, labeled the report “categorically false.” They claimed that Levy has not participated in Dua Lipa’s day-to-day activity since 2019. The agency emphasized that Levy moved to an advisory role upon her departure from London earlier this year. He fully disowned her endeavors back in March of this year.

David Levy’s influence on Dua Lipa’s early professional career was a catalyst for her impressive shot to stardom. In response to the agency’s press release, the agency’s director reiterated that any idea of an agent being fired for political motives is clearly absurd.

The storm of criticism against Kneecap reached an apex when the group’s member Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh stood accused of serious charges. He was accused of raising a flag in support of Hezbollah on stage during a concert, drawing immediate backlash. Ó hAnnaidh has rejected these charges, claiming he had just waved the flag without knowing what it meant. His next hearing in court is scheduled for September 26. At this hearing, a chief magistrate will determine whether or not he should face trial.

Singer Dua Lipa issued a statement condemning Israel’s treatment of Palestinians during the recent conflict on social media. She calls for a ceasefire and says the UK should halt arms sales to Israel. In May, she posted on Instagram, “Burning children alive can never be justified. The whole world is mobilising to stop the Israeli genocide. Please show your solidarity with Gaza.” For one, the things she’s said have made her a rare successful mainstream pop star. She is already breaking new ground by participating in the political discussion.

None other than Dua Lipa spoke out on the record about her position on Levy’s actions.

“I do not condone the actions of David Levy or other music executives toward an artist speaking their truth.” – Dua Lipa
