He has successfully built a creative agency and a product line that has produced multi-millions in revenue. OffWhite Co. is a design agency that focuses on the art of engaging design. They harness more than 20 years of experience in art and product storytelling to do so. White’s innovative Transportation for America project, called Handy Famm, has recently come into sharp focus. Its offerings are distinctive, such as a bird-shaped tape measure and an airplane-shaped object holder.
His trip down the supply chain began years ago when White developed deep connections with Chinese manufacturers. These connections provided him a strategic advantage in product development. His experience negotiating with and working with factories meant he was able to condense the development timeline considerably. You can hop onto Alibaba and find a manufacturer there and just cross your fingers. After almost two years of R&D and regulatory negotiation, almost everyone has completed their product. They spend tens of thousands of dollars just to prototype with factories in China. I created Handy Famm so fast because I really just jumped over every step,” White shared. Unlike the rest, I went directly to the source for my information.
In December 2019, White introduced Handy Famm on Amazon, inspired to make products that are useful and fun without sacrificing style. The most popular of the bunch might be their bird-shaped tape measure. It includes a printed measuring tape, and a dangly weeble wobble eyeball that serves as a level. This artistic approach to design illustrates White’s devotion to the intersection of ingenuity and functionality.
To make sure Handy Famm was going to be a success, White poured in a lot of personal time and money. These days, Fischer puts in a full workweek — at least 40 hours — on expanding and promoting the brand. Spotted with his new Handy Famm team, the Handy Famm team has grown to four full-time employees, several of them coming from OffWhite Co. where they had previously worked. This unique collaborative environment encourages innovation and makes it possible for fresh, creative ideas to be developed, produced and delivered to the consumers they connect with.
Beyond that, White’s work has already produced tremendous economic dividends. Last year, Handy Famm realized $455,000 in sales, proof of its strong market demand and resonance. Like her entrepreneur counterpart, the future business owner envisions the new business becoming profitable this year, establishing it even more firmly in the industry’s fabric.
Before establishing Handy Famm, White developed his craft on noteworthy projects. He created innovative products for leading brands such as Chobani, Cabbage Patch Kids, and AeroPress. His diverse experience has equipped him with the skills necessary to navigate the complexities of product design and marketing effectively.
While there is no shortage of challenges associated with launching a new venture, White advises future entrepreneurs to bet on themselves. The ‘just do it’ timeframe is fungible [project to project]. Get as clever and well-informed as you need to at the outset, but at some stage you need to take the plunge. If you want to get something to market, you can’t wait until something’s perfect either, because then you’ll never do anything,” he stated.
As Handy Famm expands nationally, White is excited about what’s in store for its future possibilities. He’s a true visionary and innovator, and he knows how to work a market better than anyone. As long as you have the right motivation, he believes that anyone can achieve what they set out to do! “I think anyone can do anything — if you have the motivation to do it,” he remarked.
