Eric Trump Hints at Potential Presidential Run After Father’s Term Ends

Eric Trump, co-executive vice-president of the Trump Organization, has hinted that he or another member of the Trump family may consider a presidential run when his father’s second term concludes. Since Donald Trump was inaugurated president in January 2017, he’s otherwise been occupied running the family business. The 41-year-old has not only stuck to the beat of the political drum.

In a recent interview, Eric Trump suggested that the path to the White House could be straightforward for him. He promised to do a great job as president. “You know, if the answer was yes, I think the political path would be an easy one, meaning, I think I could do it,” he stated. He emphasized that any relative could rise to this challenge.

One Trump who’s largely stayed away from the political fracas has been Eric Trump—especially as compared to his siblings, Donald Jr. and Ivanka Trump. He remains closely tuned to the political environment. He shared his disillusionment with many politicians, stating that he is “wholly unimpressed by half the politicians” he encounters.

In his business life, the Trump Organization (which he ran, almost like a King) is valued at $8-$12 billion. Eric Trump indicated that had his father not pursued a political career, the family’s financial standing would have been even more robust. In fact, I would sit there and tell them we would have a lot more zeros behind our name. This would have been had my father not run in the first place. The havoc, the opportunity cost, the legal cost, the emotional toll it’s taken on our family has been astronomical.

He argued that the Trump family is not making any money from their foray into politics. “If there’s one family that hasn’t profited off politics, it’s the Trump family,” he claimed. Even Eric Trump saw the need to take stock of the personal sacrifices required to enter the political fray. He asks himself whether it would be fair to put his children through what he’s been through. Do you really want to go there? Do you want to subject your family and friends to the ugly truth of this system? I’m still trying to figure that out,” he remarked.

Eric Trump doesn’t think 2024 needs to be the last election with a Trump on the ballot. Yet he is open to the idea that family members could assume political leadership in years to come. He stated, “I don’t know … Time will tell. But there’s more people than just me.”
