Dan Rivera was the leader of paranormal investigation’s punk rock movement, and head investigator for the New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR). Tragically, he died at age 54 on Sunday while on a national tour that included the creepy Annabelle doll. Rivera, an army veteran, took the lead with Devils on the Run Tour in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. He would later be found by himself in his hotel room. With the autopsy still pending, the cause of death has yet to be determined. Authorities have ruled out the cause as being suspicious.
Rivera’s love for the paranormal was rooted in an earnest wish to teach and commune with people. Over the years, he dedicated himself to sharing his knowledge through various platforms, including social media, conventions, and investigations with local families. He frequently warned event goers of the Annabelle doll’s supposed hauntings before letting them come into contact with her.
His mentorship under Lorraine Warren, a legendary figure in paranormal research, shaped Rivera’s approach to his work and interactions with the public. His approach to the subject matter filled with integrity and creativity made him a formidable ally in the paranormal community. As NESPR expressed in their statement,
“What Lorraine would say to protect yourself … is to close your eyes and envision yourself in a halo of white light.” – Dan Rivera
In light of Rivera’s unexpected death, NESPR still hopes to complete their events and reach audiences as planned for the remainder of 2017. In a heartfelt message, they stated,
“His integrity, creativity and generosity defined him.” – NESPR

With renewed purpose, he devotes himself to helping other adults connect with what they don’t know. His unyielding advocacy for safety in investigations will have a profound effect on the community he loves so dearly.
“As we navigate the days ahead, we want to share that although we do not know what the future of NESPR will look like without Dan, we do plan to move forward with the events previously scheduled for this year.” – NESPR
