Expert Emphasizes Importance of Navigating Uncertainty for Future Success

Bidhan L. Parmar, a prominent figure in business education, emphasizes the significance of teaching children how to navigate uncertainty and complex problems. He advocates for introducing these essential skills at an early age, arguing that this approach fosters resilience and adaptability in future leaders. Parmar, who has a PhD and MBA, is currently the Shannon G. Smith Bicentennial Professor of Business Administration at the Darden School of Business, University of Virginia.

As the Associate Dean for Faculty Development at Darden, Parmar helps mold the hearts and souls of future business leaders. As for Chris, he has devoted more than 15 years to this mission. Through this approach, it challenges them to think critically and seek solutions. “It is crucial for young people to learn that feeling conflicted about a situation is a natural part of the decision-making process,” Parmar stated.

His observations are not just academic. They are deeply experiential. Over the last 12 summers, Parmar has created these really awesome, engaging themed puzzle hunts. He involves his daughters, niece and nephew, making it both educational and fun. This hands-on, fun and exciting approach promotes creativity and critical thinking as children learn to solve problems through the design process.

Parmar is not only a teacher and researcher, but an author. His book, Radical Doubt, goes further into themes of uncertainty and resilience.
