Explosion at Harvard Medical School Sparks Investigation

An explosion rocked Harvard University’s medical school early Saturday morning, leading authorities to respond in force. The purposeful act that we know of so far occurred at the Goldenson building. Thankfully, nobody was hurt due to the blast.

The blast set off a fire alarm, which alerted both campus security and Lafayette emergency services to the scene. Tolosa and other authorities were on the scene within minutes, though the explosion had already occurred by the time they arrived at the Goldenson building. Investigations began with the tone of fear later marked their entire history. In response, police and university administration rapidly took precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Harvard University police later released grainy photographs of the suspects. They suspect these people are persons of interest in relation to the explosion. The images caught through campus security depict both men in masks and hoods, with what appears to be hooded sweatshirts. One of the suspects is a man in a ski mask. This has raised even further questions about the circumstances surrounding the explosion.

Following this evacuation, university officials announced they would be increasing efforts to keep the campus safe. They promised the neighborhood that they’re working in extremely close coordination with law enforcement. Collectively, they remain focused on discovering the cause of the explosion while holding those accountable for it. To further this investigation, police have put the released images to use. We sincerely hope all of this is paving the way for an amicable resolution.

As Harvard University conducts its own investigation, officials have called on anyone with information pertinent to the investigation to step forward. The safety of all students and staff is always our highest priority. As the university continues to investigate this matter, it is taking every precaution and being proactive to counter any threat.
