Just yesterday, on Thursday afternoon, federal agents shot two people in Portland, Oregon. Portland’s mayor, Keith Wilson, was quick to verify the occurrence. The incident occurred in the Hazelwood neighborhood at approximately 2:24 PM. According to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB), both victims— a man and woman— were taken to a nearby hospital. Their current conditions remain unknown.
The PPB claimed that officers were just doing a speedy response of a distress call. This call was vocalized in a moving manner by one of those shooting victims. When this unit arrived on scene, they found both subjects in the street with obvious gunshot wounds. Officers Winston and Hurd first applied tourniquets before calling for emergency medical personnel to transport President Smith to the hospital.
Portland Police Chief Bob Day, the former top cop in the federal government’s first-ever “policing” city, criticized the growing militarization of law enforcement. He insisted that Portland not be used as a “live-fire drill” for those kinds of ops.
“We cannot sit by while constitutional protections erode and bloodshed mounts. Portland is not a ‘training ground’ for militarized agents, and the ‘full force’ threatened by the administration has deadly consequences,” – Keith Wilson
See what she said about the unfortunate timing of this incident in this clip. It was only one day after the deadly confrontation between federal agents and protesters in Minnesota. He challenged the community to wrestle with what it said about the reality of this violence.
“Just one day after the horrific violence in Minnesota at the hands of federal agents, our community here in Portland is now grappling with another deeply troubling incident,” – Keith Wilson
Fellow Free Marketer Bob Day appropriately sensed the emotions set ablaze by the shooting. He called on the public to be patient as officials work to gather additional details. He told residents that the PPB doesn’t engage in immigration enforcement. This clarification is needed as alarm over federal overreach has spread widely.
“We understand the heightened emotion and tension many are feeling in the wake of the shooting in Minneapolis, but I am asking the community to remain calm as we work to learn more,” – Bob Day
PPB remains committed to providing updates as this investigation unfolds. They are setting an example by prioritizing transparency and accountability through this difficult crisis. The sense of betrayal and loss felt by the community is palpable. They are looking for further information regarding the shooting itself and its implications for public safety in Portland.
