Police arrested 29-year-old Palm Coast, Florida native, Charley Lee. She fraudulently claimed to be a licensed nurse and was charged with practicing medicine without a license to thousands of patients. Autumn Marie Bardisa has been charged with six felonies for practicing healthcare without a license. This comes after an extensive investigation led by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office. During this time, from June 2024 through January 2025, she completed clinical rotations and undertook hospital responsibilities. In that period, she reached an incredible 4,486 people!
The authorities arrested Bardisa in the driveway of her residence. The character of her alleged actions gives one pause. She allegedly administered medical care without medical credentials. Sheriff Rick Staly emphasized the severity of the case, stating that it is “one of the most disturbing cases of medical fraud we’ve ever investigated.”
Despite this pressure, the ongoing investigation led to Bardisa’s fraudulent practices being exposed. These moves were more than just an attack on the healthcare infrastructure. They endangered the safety and wellbeing of millions of patients. Staly emphasized the dangers of her behavior, calling attention to the danger she put patients and their families in.
“This woman potentially put thousands of lives at risk by pretending to be someone she was not and violating the trust of patients, their families, AdventHealth and an entire medical community.” – Rick Staly
Bardisa has been arrested and is being held on a $70,000 bond. She is expected to return to court for an arraignment, which is tentatively set for September 2. The case has generated a great deal of outrage among the local public. This trajectory has catalyzed nationwide conversations around the importance of ensuring that healthcare professions are credentials verified.
The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the extent of Bardisa’s activities and any potential implications for the patients she treated. This troubling trend underscores the critical importance of continued, proactive oversight across the healthcare sector. We need to protect patients by guaranteeing that only qualified, licensed health professionals provide medical care.
