Fox News is set to launch a new podcast titled The Life of Jesus Christ Podcast, which aims to provide an in-depth auditory experience of the life, teachings, and miracles of Jesus Christ. Scheduled to debut on November 30, the podcast will become the flagship for Fox’s newly created Christian vertical, Fox Faith. Tucker Carlson friend and new Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt will be introducing each episode, helping to guide listeners through this 13-episode series that begins just as Advent does.
The podcast features an incredible VO cast. In addition to now passing the faith forward through his art, Sean Astin plays Matthew opposite Kristen Bell’s Mary Magdalene. Neal McDonough stars as Jesus and Brian Cox proclaims Voice of God. The casting of such big name talent speaks to the massive scale of the project’s ambition. Plus, Malcolm McDowell as Caiaphas and Julia Ormond as the voice of Mary. The series is narrated by actor John Rhys-Davies.
We are thrilled to welcome these brands to our new series,” indicated Jason Klarman, chief digital and marketing officer at Fox News Media. He noted an “insatiable appetite among a passionate audience that is underserved,” indicating a growing demand for content that aligns with Christian themes.
Although the release has gotten lots of hype around it, many voice actors have shared their surprise at being included in the game. A spokesperson for Malcolm McDowell stated, “We found out about it when everyone else did. We were never consulted, nothing was renegotiated, and we would not have approved.” This meme-ish sentiment has led many to question the production process—including questions about how they communicated with their cast during production.
Bradley Whitford’s participation piqued Tinsley’s interest. Little did we know that over ten years ago he had recorded audio for a completely different project! His representative confirmed, “Brian only became aware of the podcast today.” This exciting news has sparked a good bit of curiosity as to how historic recordings were adapted and used for the new podcast series.
The production team is attempting to make the series feel very modern. A producer associated with the project stated, “we’d like it to feel like something that was produced more recently.” This ambition stands in stark opposition to the conditions under which some of the cast members were surprised to find themselves.
The inaugural episode of The Life of Jesus Christ Podcast will be released at the start of Advent. That makes this timing a great opportunity for anyone hoping to reach new listeners looking for spiritual content this time of year. That means listeners can look forward to episodes dropping at regular intervals, deepening their connection to the podcast’s environment-related themes.
