Investigation Continues After Body of Missing Woman Found in Philadelphia

A week later, authorities found the remains of Kada Scott, a 23-year-old woman who had been missing for nearly two weeks. Her body was discovered wrapped in a blanket in a wooded lot behind a schoolhouse in Philadelphia. Scott went missing on October 4. She never made it back home after her overnight shift at an assisted living facility. Though tragic, her disappearance has resulted in several positive developments, including the arrest of a suspect.

Keon King, a 21-year-old man from Dover, Delaware, is now charged with attempted murder. He’s been charged with kidnapping, stalking and other crimes related to Scott’s case. Authorities have charged him with three counts of murder and his bail is currently set at $2.5 million. Authorities say that more charges are likely. Investigators were surprised to learn that King had called Scott on her cellphone just before disappearing. This discovery led to new questions about the nature of their relationship.

Loock has a crucial piece of evidence in a black Hyundai Accent, reported stolen a day before Scott disappeared. Security video captured by a nearby recreational center indicates that vehicle parked there late the night of Oct. 4. This very site was near to where Scott’s body would soon be found. That Hyundai did indeed catch fire in Philadelphia three days after she disappeared. Sadly, it was then crushed at a junkyard before investigators could fully analyze it.

District attorney Larry Krasner said he was confident that homicide charges would be filed against King.

“I am confident that homicide charges will be brought,” – Larry Krasner

King’s violent criminal history includes a recent violent crime arrest earlier this year. He reportedly abducted a woman from her residence, pistol whipped her, and forced her into a vehicle, sexually assaulting her inside. He was released on $200,000 bail in that case and had been released before Scott’s disappearance.

Ashley Toczylowski, who helped raise awareness of the investigation and has been outspoken throughout the search for Scott, implored authorities to dig deeper while looking for Scott.

“Go back, she’s there, look again,” – Ashley Toczylowski

Toczylowski implied that other people were present during the incident, afterward.

“Have reason to believe other people may have been involved after the fact,” – Ashley Toczylowski

As the investigation progresses, with surveillance footage and other evidence being collected, it is imperative that law enforcement quickly attempts to put together what led to Scott’s tragic death. As the community continues to mourn her loss, they look to see what further legal actions may be taken against King.
