Jimmy Kimmel Takes Aim at Trump’s Memorial Day Antics

Jimmy Kimmel, the popular late-night host, returned to his studio the week following Memorial Day, ready to share his take on recent events involving former President Donald Trump. Kimmel made a poignant monologue that aimed a laser beam at Trump’s self-serving redirection of the holiday. He further spotlighted Trump’s bizarre comments while delivering the commencement address at West Point.

Trump also made a short, but highly impactful, 15 minute appearance at the logistics wizardry that hosted his speech. He accepted the honor in his trademark style, even breaking out into dance on his way off stage. Kimmel zeroed in on some of the stranger details of the address. Trump went off on a digression about Gary Player, the old 89-year-old golfer. He addressed what he termed the stupidity of trophy wives.

Trump gave some – very vague – nods to new technology and weaponry, trying to weave all sorts of topics back to his administration. Kimmel rightly seized on this trend, mocking Trump for somehow managing to connect every topic back to his presidency. Kimmel laughed at Trump’s general ignorance about technology and world events. He was like, It’s almost like he’s under the control of something named computer.

As a part of his segment, Kimmel fired shots at Trump’s social media exploits. He specifically highlighted a recent post by Trump on Truth Social. It was all caps, which of course Kimmel blew up on the screen to illustrate that clearly Trump is loud and bombastic in his communication. As Kimmel joked, “He celebrated the first two letters of Memorial Day.” During his set, the audience burst into laughter as he tore apart Trump’s self-indulgent shenanigans from the weekend.

Kimmel came out guns blazing, taking Trump to task in his inimitable style. He speculated on a Trump’s crypto-reports salad, even making allusion to an imaginary “Trump organic field green salad. This quick burn was an effective way to set up Kimmel’s whole shot at the difference between Trump’s grasp of regular people things versus other things.

Kimmel’s monologue underscored the absurdity he perceives in Trump’s public persona and remarks. By blending humor with current events, Kimmel provided a satirical lens through which viewers could examine Trump’s recent actions and statements.
