Jonas Abrahamsen Clinches Victory in Thrilling Stage 11 of Tour de France 2025

Jonas Abrahamsen, riding for the Uno-X Mobility contingent at the 2025 edition of the Tour de France, celebrates after winning Stage 11. The exciting competition happened in Toulouse, France. It was a heck of a race! Abrahamsen not only battled the unforgiving North American terrain, but some of the toughest competition in the world from big names such as Mathieu Van der Poel. His tactical riding, coupled with his amazing finishing speed, carried him to a hard-earned victory.

The day started well with Abrahamsen making the day’s main break. His previous breakaway companion, his teammate Mauro Schmid, along with riders Wright, Ballerini, and Burgaudeau formed a more substantial group. As a result, they finally succeeded in extending their advantage to a mind boggling gap of 2 minutes and 25 seconds over the peloton. Over the course of the race, Abrahamsen and Schmid teamed up to build a lead over Van der Poel. This freed them up to focus on their own path to the finish line.

During the later stages of the race, Abrahamsen made a shocking long-range attack, distancing himself from his other breakaway partners. All of his hard work certainly paid off. He continued to motor away, eventually coming home 19 seconds clear of the chasing group that included Simmons, Wright and Burgaudeau. Although he was chased hard, Abrahamsen’s grit was evident as he fought his way through the final kilometers of the stage.

In an exciting photo-finish, Abrahamsen and Schmid sprinted firmly head-to-head. It may have been Gibbons who earned the headlines, but it was Abrahamsen who crossed the line first, guaranteeing his victory in Stage 11. His team rejoiced from the Uno-X Mobility car, expressing their elation with shouts of “it’s a new level of emotion winning a stage of the Tour.”

“I know I have a pretty good sprint and we had been out for a long time, so I had to be smart and not go over the limit.” – Jonas Abrahamsen

In spite of these challenges, Abrahamsen’s triumph will go down as one of the greatest milestones in his career. But just four weeks out from the event, he experienced a debilitating blow. After fracturing his collarbone in the Baloise Belgium Tour. Looking back on that experience, he discussed his feelings while recovering.

“I broke my collarbone four weeks ago at the Baloise Belgium Tour and I cried in the hospital thinking I wouldn’t make the Tour.” – Jonas Abrahamsen

The victory not only adds points to Abrahamsen’s tally, bringing him to a total of 20, but showcases his resilience and tactical prowess in one of cycling’s most prestigious events. His directeur sportif Axel Laurence lauded his power and tactical intelligence to the stage as a whole.

And with six kilometers to go, that’s exactly what Jonas Vingegaard of Visma-Lease a Bike did, springing a highly aggressive attack. He was ultimately unable to overcome Abrahamsen’s lead. As the dust cleared on an exciting day of racing, it was Abrahamsen’s smart decisions that proved to be the difference. His impressive finale secured him a spot as one of the Tour de France’s top stars.
