Kiefer Sutherland, the immensely popular actor from “24” and “The Lost Boys,” was arrested in handcuffs Monday morning. The second arrest occurred in swanky Hollywood. A little after midnight, the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a call. Officers quickly encountered and arrested Sutherland for felony assault of a ride-share driver.
The arrest came after an alleged incident in which Sutherland entered a ride-share vehicle and brutally beat up the driver while making comments about being a terrorist. According to the Los Angeles police, “The investigation determined that the suspect, later identified as Kiefer Sutherland, entered a ride-share vehicle, physically assaulted the driver (the victim), and made criminal threats toward the victim.”
59 Sutherland was arrested soon after the rampage and charged as a Canadian-British national. He quickly posted $50,000 bail and was released within a few hours. A court date has been set for February 2, where deliberations will continue.
The actor, son of the legendary actor Donald Sutherland, has built a long and illustrious career in film and television. His father, Donald Sutherland, who died in 2024, was a founding figure in the entertainment industry’s new cultural power. Kiefer Sutherland’s notable works include his iconic role as Jack Bauer in the acclaimed series “24” and his performance in the cult classic vampire film “The Lost Boys.”
Information on the incident is still developing. At the same time, Sutherland’s legal team has been silent on the accusations in public. The entertainment community will continue to stay protected as further details are anticipated to come out before the July 18th scheduled court date.
