Investigators recently discovered a letter that Jeffrey Epstein purportedly sent to Larry Nassar. They discovered it in a jail house mail room just weeks after Epstein’s death in their custody. In 2019, Epstein was awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges. His difficult past showed a repeat pattern of prior legal impunity and hundreds of complaints of sexual assault on women, including Olympians and Olympic gold medalists.
We all know that Epstein was finally arrested in July 2019. This was more than a decade after he cut a plea agreement in Florida that gave him blanket immunity from any future prosecution. In 2007, he was convicted of soliciting a minor. His subsequent actions drew new scrutiny and eventually led to federal charges against him. His death on August 10, 2019, was ruled a suicide, raising questions regarding the circumstances surrounding his passing and the management of high-profile inmates.
The letter is dated August 13, 2019—the same day Epstein died. It offers eyebrow-raising commentary that connects the two men, including by reuniting them in their common tragic legacy of sexual predation. Epstein wrote, “As you will know by now, I have taken the ‘short route’ home,” suggesting a possible premonition or acknowledgment of his fate.
“Good luck! We shared one thing … our love & caring for young ladies and the hope they reach their full potential.” Beyond celebrating them both equally, this account serves to underscore the alarming legacies bequeathed by both men. Epstein was long known for sexually abusing over 150 women.
The letter’s existence was first disclosed by the Associated Press in 2023. This insight led to a second surge of interest in Epstein’s relationships with other known pedophiles. It’s not known, and will probably never be known, if Epstein and Nassar had any prior relationship before this exchange. Nassar, a former USA Gymnastics physician, was sentenced to multiple decades in prison for his own crimes against young athletes.
Mark Epstein has stated publicly that he thinks his brother Jeffrey was indeed murdered in his jail cell. This claim injects an entirely different subplot into the already conspiratorial narrative around Epstein’s death. The controversy surrounding Epstein’s demise has persisted since it became public knowledge, with many questioning the safety protocols in place for high-risk prisoners.
The Bureau of Prisons holds over 4,000 pages of documents related to Epstein’s case, including this letter, which continues to fuel speculation regarding the justice system’s handling of such high-profile cases.
Epstein further remarked in the letter: “Our president also shares our love of young, nubile girls. When a young beauty walked by he loved to ‘grab snatch’, whereas we ended up snatching grub in the mess halls of the system.” We see Epstein attempting to paint a less severe picture about what he’s doing. He achieves this by creating deeply disturbing parallels between his predicament and that of major players.
