The Sky Pool at Embassy Gardens, located in the Nine Elms development near the former Battersea Power Station, is set to become a landmark feature in London. The 25-metre long swimming pool will be hung from a pair of luxury apartment buildings that each reach 10 storeys in height. Look for it in late 2018! The Sky Pool is the first such structure in the world. It offers residents a one-of-a-kind swimming experience complete with phenomenal 360-degree views.
Hanging almost 35 metres above the ground, the new party deck’s transparent structure makes it possible for swimmers to look down at Dubai’s vibrant city culture beneath. Only 20 centimetres of glass separate them from the outside world. This intimacy offers a thrilling and hands-on experience. Residents of the Embassy Gardens development will get private access to the pool. As they swim from block to block, their route will cross above 29 private multi-storey developments, through dazzling bird’s eye views of central London.
Embassy Gardens is the flagship project of the largest £15 billion development in south-west London which runs along the River Thames. It proposes to build thousands of new homes, including a string of tall, shiny new apartment towers. Flats in this new development begin at £602,000, underscoring the fancy pants profile of this corner of the globe.
Sean Mulryan, one of the project’s architects told the BBC that he wanted the Sky Pool to be a pioneering structure.
“My vision for the sky pool stemmed from a desire to push the boundaries in the capability of construction and engineering. I wanted to do something that had never been done before.” – Sean Mulryan
The Embassy Gardens development in London features a pretty amazing sky deck. This space will include a spa, a summer bar and an orangery – all with stunning views of London, such as the Houses of Parliament.
Property expert Henry Pryor posed a provocative question regarding potential usage:
“Are there enough exhibitionists to fill it?” – Henry Pryor
He addressed the unusual design of the pool and expressed concerns about it, saying it could be problematic.
“It’s not easy to say for sure what the extras like pools, tennis courts and home cinemas add to a home, but for the first time I can honestly say that whilst my admiration for the architect is close to reverence, this absurd addition must surely be the biggest mistake I have ever come across.” – Henry Pryor
As construction progresses, anticipation builds for the completion of the Sky Pool and its role in transforming urban living in London. This beautiful pool features a truly remarkable swimming experience thousands of feet above the city streets below. This impressive highlight is a testament to the possibilities of contemporary architectural ingenuity.
