ONE Gas Reports Significant Revenue Growth in Q1 2025

ONE Gas, Inc. today announced earnings for the first quarter of 2025, reporting an exceptional 30 percent rise in revenue. For the full year, the company delivered total revenue of $935.19 million. That’s an astounding 23.3% jump from the same timeframe last year! This robust growth is a testament to ONE Gas’s solid execution in the thriving natural gas industry.

For the quarter ended March 2025, the company’s revenue from natural gas sales was $870.40 million. This figure crushed analysts’ expectations. Two analysts had an average revenue estimate of $719.29 million for natural gas sales, but the actual results were much better. The company’s ability to exceed these estimates is an indication of the company’s strong market position and operational efficiency.

Besides revenue, ONE Gas announced strong volume numbers. Residential customers bought a record 58,900 MMcf of natural gas. This figure beat analysts’ consensus of 56,064.04 MMcf on average. That does mean the residential natural gas demand segment, a very important managed-demand segment for the company, is seeing strong strength too.

Even better for ONE Gas, the commercial and industrial sectors helped propel the utility to the success story. Natural gas sales in these sectors topped out at a crazy 19,200 MMcf. This figure completely blew high the industry analysts’ averaged estimates of 17,254.44 MMcf. This rapid expansion speaks to the company’s success in serving the needs of different customer segments well.

The increase was the result of an overall increase in the volumes of natural gas delivered by ONE Gas, which totaled 144,600 MMcf for the quarter. This figure surpassed the analysts’ average estimate of 136,632.5 MMcf, showcasing the company’s solid distribution capabilities.

On the transportation revenue side, ONE Gas came in at $43.80 million for the quarter. That figure blew by the $41.35 million in revenue that two analysts projected. This further cements the company’s outstanding results throughout its lines of business.

The volumes on sales of natural gas for transportation were 65,300 MMcf. The increase was well above the three-analyst mean of 64,475.83 MMcf. This metric further demonstrates the company’s operational prowess in this factored-in segment.

From an investor perspective ONE Gas’s revenue reported success only highlights part of the story. It beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $803.58 million by a wide margin and led to an even more impressive surprise of +16.38%. This departure from predicted numbers illustrates that ONE Gas has effectively capitalized on market opportunities. More importantly though they have succeeded, sometimes wildly, in an extremely rough competition.
