Her first foray into journalism was in Ukraine, where she started a women’s magazine in Kyiv. After her six months in Ukraine, she returned to Germany. There, she re-entered her previous profession as a freelance reporter for various outlets, including the highly regarded magazine Stern.

In 2012, Fröhlich transitioned to novel writing, publishing her debut work titled “My Russian Mother-in-Law and Other Catastrophes.” This book was formed from her real-life experiences of being married to a Russian. Still, she wove personal insights throughout the storytelling, deepening the narrative. As her literary career blossomed, she published the crime novel Death is a Certainty in 2016. This intriguing and brilliant novel continued to receive international acclaim after its translation into French. Now with the publication of Skeletons in the Closet in 2019, Mamer furthers the magic and allure she’s created.

On the water, Fröhlich lived on a vibrant cerise-colored houseboat. For many years it was moored along the Holzhafen bank of the Elbe River in Hamburg’s eastern district of Moorfleet.

Authorities announced they have opened a criminal investigation into her death. A police spokesperson provided details about the circumstances surrounding the incident:
