Russia Considers Ceasefire Proposal Amidst Ongoing Ukraine Conflict

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia is in agreement with the U.S.-led ceasefire plan for Ukraine, marking a significant development in the ongoing conflict. The plan, which calls for a 30-day ceasefire, received backing from Ukraine earlier this week. However, the plan is contingent upon Moscow's approval. In an effort to secure this agreement, U.S. negotiators held talks in Moscow on Thursday to discuss the details of the ceasefire initiative.

Putin expressed appreciation for U.S. President Donald Trump's involvement, acknowledging his efforts in brokering the Russia-Ukraine deal through the White House.

"We agree with the proposal for a ceasefire, to cease hostilities, but we proceed from the fact that this ceasefire should lead to an enduring peace and should remove the root causes of this crisis." – Vladimir Putin

The ceasefire plan, spearheaded by the United States, aims to halt hostilities and foster peace between Russia and Ukraine. With Ukraine's support already secured, Moscow's agreement remains a crucial factor for moving forward with the proposed 30-day ceasefire period.

During the talks in Moscow, U.S. negotiators emphasized the importance of this ceasefire as a stepping stone towards lasting peace in the region. Putin highlighted the necessity of addressing underlying issues that have fueled the conflict, stressing that any temporary truce must pave the way for a more comprehensive resolution.
