Stabbing Incident Near Traverse City Leads to Arrest and Investigation

A mass stabbing near Traverse City, Michigan, sent six people to the hospital. Law enforcement was on scene within minutes. The Michigan state police, as well as the local sheriff’s office, are currently investigating. One suspect of the arson is now in custody, but the neighborhood where it happened still says they’re in shock.

The event took place in a town about four hours and 255 miles due west of the center of Detroit. As a new report from Marshall Project details, the Michigan state police’s sixth district has quickly taken the lead in the ongoing investigation. Lt. Michelle Robinson, the district’s public information officer, reiterated that law enforcement is all in on the surprise. Second, they know all of the facts of the incident.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer took to social media to slam the violent acts. In a statement, she said, “Our hearts go out to victims and to a community reeling in the wake of this heinous act of violence.” She further lauded first responders for their efficient work in detaining the suspect.
