Mid-February, a new wave of protests known as Tesla Takedown hit every town and city across the United States. These protests drew attention to the harmful and controversial collusion between Tesla CEO Elon Musk and the U.S. federal government. These protests are aimed at sending a clear signal to the Trump administration that we do not approve of what Musk has done lately. The demonstrations emerged shortly after Donald Trump’s inauguration, signaling widespread discontent that has since reverberated through Tesla’s financial standing, with the company’s stock plummeting over 35% and a notable decline in sales and resale values of used Teslas.
Our Tesla Takedown organizers jumped on that energy to start a new, Global Day of Action movement. Among this growing wave of protests, this event was truly remarkable as the largest demonstration so far. With careful intention and strategy, the organizers have coordinated 213 protests from Waterville, Maine to Honolulu, Hawaii with 32 international locations. In addition, over 200 Tesla showrooms around the world will feature these demonstrations. In California, at least 50 actions are on the schedule already.
The Rising Wave of Protests
Tesla Takedown has quickly built up the energy of a major protest movement. Jonathan V Last remarked on its impact:
“I would go so far as to say the Tesla takedown protests have been one of the most consequential protest movements in the shortest amount of time ever.” – Jonathan V Last
Because of their massive scope, the protests have made history. They are simultaneously upending Elon Musk’s empire. Last further emphasized:
“They helped to obliterate one-third of Elon Musk’s net worth, in like 100 days. And when you attack his money stack, you attack his power.” – Jonathan V Last
Vickie Mueller Olvera, an outspoken critic of Musk’s influence, added her perspective:
“Nobody voted for this, and nobody voted for Elon.” – Vickie Mueller Olvera
Distancing from Violence
The Tesla Takedown organizers didn’t want to commit any violence. Yet today, they are confronted with increasing violence and vandalism directed towards their movement. Codiv32 and Tesla Repeatedly the reports have hit of Tesla showrooms becoming victims of violent assaults with molotov cocktails flames graffiti gun fire, and .
“This is domestic terrorism. Those responsible will be pursued, caught, and brought to justice.” – Kash Patel
The organizers have been adamant about their peaceful approach to protest:
“We are a non-violent grassroots protest movement.” – Tesla Takedown organizers
“We oppose violence and destruction of property. Peaceful protest on public property is not domestic terrorism.” – Tesla Takedown organizers
In Las Vegas, authorities recently arrested a suspect involved in a high-profile attack against a Tesla showroom using molotov cocktails. This incident points to a larger, more sinister trend. Dozens of Tesla facilities have been attacked under the cover of night.
Alex Winter, a prominent promoter for the movement with nearly 200,000 followers on Bluesky, continues to utilize social media platforms to rally support and maintain focus on their anti-Musk agenda.
Global Impact and Future Prospects
The Tesla Takedown protests feature a peaceful, diverse coalition of people united in their anger. They’re speaking out and standing up against what they view as Musk’s unchecked power. The group’s messaging is in line with a larger, more worrisome critique against these wealthy elite individuals thought to exercise undue influence without democratic approval.
“Let’s send these techno-fascists, broligarchs and old fashioned Nazis a message loud and clear.” – Tesla Takedown group
This movement underscores a growing sentiment that challenges the influence of billionaires like Musk on public policy and governance.
