An arrest warrant has been issued for actor Timothy Busfield in New Mexico. The award-winning director and Emmy-winning actor has been charged with 11 counts of child sexual abuse. The warrant stems from disturbing allegations that he repeatedly groped a minor child. These events allegedly occurred between Nov 2022 and Spring 2024, amid his directorial and acting work on the hit TV show “The Cleaning Lady”.
According to law enforcement sources, the alleged victim was only seven years old when the first incident happened. He says that each time, Busfield put a hand on him and/or ground against him during conversations or when instructing him. The kid eventually admitted that the sexual touching didn’t stop when he was eight years old. He claimed that Busfield inappropriately touched him five or six different times over that span. The investigation into these allegations commenced in November 2024 after a doctor at the University of New Mexico hospital made a report to authorities.
Busfield, known for his roles in iconic productions such as “Thirtysomething,” “The West Wing,” and “Field of Dreams,” faces two counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor. His lawyer, publicist and talent agent all have declined to comment when asked to do so by the Daily Beast.
New Mexico officials later issued a warrant for Busfield’s arrest. This action sends a powerful message that they are serious about addressing sexual abuse allegations involving minors. Despite the fact that this case is still developing, it has received widespread – and unwelcome – media coverage, especially given Busfield’s high-profile career.
Busfield’s acting accomplishments are far too numerous to list, though he did win an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 1991 for his role on “Thirtysomething.” Beyond his professional life, his personal life has attracted interest. He is married to actress Melissa Gilbert. Interestingly enough, Gilbert had permanently deleted her Instagram account as of Sunday, leading to much speculation about her response to what was unfolding.
That story is still developing and the public continues to clamor for information. In the meantime, press attention now turns to additional comments offered by Busfield and his defense team. The very seriousness of the allegations underscores the immediate necessity to protect children from child abuse.
