What horrible events came to a head on Friday night. The dramatic 69-year-old Japanese tourist who fell over the edge of the Pantheon’s outer wall in Rome. The father was sightseeing with his young daughter when he fell about 25 feet into the UNESCO World Heritage Site’s historic moat. Even though this tragic fall resulted in immediate fatal injuries.
According to eyewitnesses, the man was sitting on top of the wall when he fell off. His daughter reported to the police that it apparently came upon him like a sudden illness. This seems to have done him in, sending him tumbling from his high horse. Emergency services were immediately on scene and teams breached a locked gate on the Via della Palombella to access the location. Sadly though, they were obliged to announce the gentleman’s death at the scene.
