Last month’s Burning Man festival in Nevada was particularly noted for its vibrancy of art and unity of spirit. It was fouled by a series of bizarre events that tragically ended in a homicide. Vadim Kruglov, a 37-year-old husband and father of two from Washington, was killed when the boom collapsed. This find happened on the last night of the festival which ran from August 27 to September 4, 2023.
Intense dust storms rattled the festival, interrupting celebrations and causing some damage. They smashed sculptures and took the axe to the famous wooden effigy called the Burning Man, which is typically burned in a dramatic ceremony. In this turbulent time, attendees had more surprises in store for them. Another shocking scene followed a woman who gave birth, not having known, at all, that she was pregnant.
The incident involving Kruglov occurred between 8 PM and 9:15 PM on Saturday, as the festival prepared for the burning of the effigy. Witnesses called 911 and stated they found him “lying in a pool of blood”…obviously deceased,” which led police officers to act quickly. Law enforcement cordoned off the area to conduct an investigation and interviewed several participants who were present at the scene.
Jerry Allen, the Pershing County Sheriff, has appealed to the Burning Man community for help in revealing more information about the incident. He asked members of the public who may have known the victim or know anything about suspects to contact police.

As officials launched a murder investigation over the weekend, they collected evidence and sought accounts from attendees who might have seen anything suspicious during the critical timeframe.
