Tragic Discovery: Bodies of Missing Sisters Found in Aberdeen

In a heartbreaking turn of events, the bodies of Eliza and Henrietta Huszti, both 32 years old, have been discovered in the River Dee, Aberdeen. Originally from Hungary, the sisters had moved to Scotland approximately seven years ago in search of a better life. Their disappearance last week has shocked the local community and raised concerns among family and friends.

The sisters were last seen on CCTV footage near the Dee at Aberdeen harbour early in the morning on January 7. Prior to that, on January 6 at 2:50 PM, they were observed walking towards a path along the river. Twelve hours later, CCTV captured them walking from Market Street and across Victoria Bridge, heading west towards the Aberdeen Boat Club, where they subsequently vanished.

The alarm was raised on January 7 when their landlady received a concerning text message from Henrietta's mobile phone at 2:12 AM, indicating that the sisters would not return home. The landlady reported their disappearance to the police shortly thereafter. Just prior to their disappearance, the sisters engaged in a 40-minute phone call with their mother, during which everything seemed normal. They even held a video call with their sister Edit on New Year's Eve, appearing happy and cheerful.

Tragically, the first body was recovered from the River Dee around 8 AM on Friday. While formal identification is pending, the family of the sisters has been informed of the developments. Flowers have been left near Queen Elizabeth Bridge as a tribute to the sisters, highlighting the community's grief over this tragic loss.

Scotland's First Minister, John Swinney, expressed his condolences via social media platform X, stating, "Heartbreaking news from the City of Aberdeen this morning. My thoughts are with everyone affected by this very sad news."

Superintendent David Howieson also conveyed his condolences, noting, "Our thoughts remain with the Huszti family and we are keeping them fully updated following these recoveries." The police have stated that they believe there are no apparent suspicious circumstances surrounding the sisters' disappearance.

As investigations continue, the community remains in mourning for Eliza and Henrietta Huszti. The circumstances surrounding their disappearance and tragic end remain under investigation by local authorities.
