An earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale struck Los Angeles shortly after the Oscars ceremony concluded on March 2 at 22:23 local time. The United States Geological Survey (USGC) reported the tremor's epicenter was located approximately 1.4 miles east-southeast of North Hollywood, at a depth of 15 kilometers below the surface. The quake was felt across the San Fernando Valley and other parts of Los Angeles, including Universal City and Studio City.
Despite the timing of the quake, the Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed it was "not entering earthquake mode," as there were no immediate reports of significant damage or injuries. The tremor's reach extended to areas such as Burbank, situated 3 miles west-southwest of the epicenter.

The earthquake occurred just as Hollywood celebrated a night of cinematic achievements, with Anora emerging as the evening's standout winner. The film secured five awards, including best picture, best actress for Mikey Madison, and best director for Sean Baker. The seismic activity did little to dampen the spirits of those who had gathered to celebrate the prestigious event.
The USGC pinpointed the epicenter to be 2.5 miles east-northeast of Studio City, further emphasizing the earthquake's proximity to key Los Angeles neighborhoods. The quake was also felt 1.7 miles north of Universal City, underscoring its broad impact across the region.
