Trump Calls for Impeachment of Judge Blocking Deportations as DOJ Challenges Jurisdiction

In a heated dispute over deportations, former President Donald Trump has demanded the impeachment of Judge James Boasberg. The Department of Justice (DOJ) has taken a legal stance by asking an appeals court to remove Judge Boasberg from presiding over a lawsuit that challenges the deportation of alleged members of the Tren de Aragua gang. The DOJ also requested the judge to vacate orders he issued that temporarily halted these deportations.

Judge James Boasberg is overseeing a lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union and Democracy Forward. This lawsuit disputes the Trump administration's efforts to deport individuals under the wartime Alien Enemies Act. On Saturday, Judge Boasberg issued two orders preventing the administration from deporting aliens detained during immigration proceedings. These actions have prompted a response from the DOJ, which has until Tuesday afternoon to address questions about its actions, including whether any deportation flights departed the U.S. on Saturday night.

Trump responded to the situation with strong words on his Truth Social platform, criticizing Judge Boasberg and questioning his authority.

"This Radical Left Lunatic of a Judge, a troublemaker and agitator who was sadly appointed by Barack Hussein Obama, was not elected President – He didn't WIN the popular VOTE (by a lot!), he didn't WIN ALL SEVEN SWING STATES, he didn't WIN 2,750 to 525 Counties, HE DIDN'T WIN ANYTHING!" – Donald Trump

In addition to seeking Judge Boasberg's removal from the case, the DOJ has challenged his jurisdiction, asserting that his orders overstep legal boundaries.

"lacks jurisdiction because the presidential actions they challenge are not subject to judicial review." – Department of Justice (DOJ)

The DOJ's motion to vacate Judge Boasberg's orders is part of its broader argument that the deportations are justified under existing laws. Meanwhile, Trump has made his stance clear, emphasizing his desire to keep certain individuals out of the country.

"WE DON'T WANT VICIOUS, VIOLENT, AND DEMENTED CRIMINALS, MANY OF THEM DERANGED MURDERERS, IN OUR COUNTRY. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!" – Donald Trump
