A recent poll highlights the controversial nature of some of his executive orders, with many Americans expressing opposition to several of his decisions.
The poll indicates that a significant portion of the public disapproves of Trump's move to end federal efforts aimed at promoting the hiring of women and racial minority groups, with 59% of respondents opposed to this action. Additionally, 70% of those surveyed expressed strong opposition to Trump's order to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, a decision made on his first day in office.
In terms of environmental policy, 59% of respondents voiced opposition to the United States withdrawing from the Paris climate accords. This aligns with Trump's history of fluctuating approval ratings, which saw a high of 49% early in his term and plummeted to 34% following the January 6 insurrection.
The decision to close all federal diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) offices was met with resistance from 51% of respondents, while only 25% supported the closure. The poll also revealed a stark contrast in opinions on Elon Musk, a prominent ally of Trump, with 75% of Republicans viewing him favorably and 90% of Democrats holding an unfavorable view.
Economic concerns also featured prominently in the survey results. Half of the respondents believe the country is on the wrong track regarding the cost of living, while only 25% feel it is moving in the right direction. Immigration policies under Trump received mixed reviews, with 48% approving and 41% disapproving of his approach.
A proposed hiring freeze at most federal offices found favor with 49% of respondents. This proposal received substantial support from Republicans, with 80% backing it, while it garnered support from only 43% of Democrats.
