Then on December 16, 2016, the very tragic attack by Esteban Santiago occurred at Orlando’s international airport. A companion animal white miniature schnauzer named Tywinn was tragically found drowned in a bathroom. Lily the therapy dog was on the road with her handler, Alison Lawrence. Sadly, it got abandoned when they were denied boarding due to a problem with their paperwork. As Lawrence stepped aboard her international flight to Colombia, she couldn’t help but feel elated. She was eventually charged with aggravated animal abuse.
Tywinn was indeed a special boy with his colorful companion vest, collar and rabies tag. His casque-shaped, bone-shaped dog tag prominently featured Alison Lawrence’s contact info as they collectively journeyed to Colombia. Troubles truly began, as the paperwork for Tywinn to travel on the upcoming transatlantic flight was discovered to be insufficient. Unable to travel with his owner in the cargo hold of the plane, Tywinn was abandoned in the airport bathroom stall.
Luckily we had surveillance cameras that shot the horrible events that followed. The shocking video showed how Tywinn was drowned inside the locked bathroom. His identity was established through an implanted microchip, supporting information discovered on his dog tag.
Alison Lawrence, once she dumped Tywinn in the bathroom, took a few steps back through the terminal and managed to make it onto her flight to Bogota, Colombia. Her journey didn’t stop in Colombia—she kept going all the way to Ecuador. Tywinn’s tragic death was the catalyst for Lawrence’s wrongful arrest. He is currently charged with aggravated animal abuse, a third-degree felony.
